Bald Head Island is a beautiful place with so many activities the entire family can enjoy, and there are several things that can make Father's Day extra-special for everyone, especially Dad.
From exploring nature to learning about the island's history, there are plenty of fun things to do with Dad for Father's Day on Bald Head Island.
Getting out on the water this Father's Day is a great idea, and you can have unique sailing experience with The Sail Shop. They offer Family Funsails that take four to five people down the Cape Fear River and provide an excellent introduction to sailing. The 90-minute journey is $75 a person, and The Sail Shop also has individual lessons available.
For the dad who likes to get in touch with nature, a trip to the Bald Head Island Conservancy is the perfect way to go. Families can schedule activities like a nature or kayaking tour.
Visitors also have the opportunity to observe 250 species of birds on a special bird-watching tour. Prices for both the bird and nature tours are $30 for BHI members and $40 for non-members.
When people visit Old Baldy Lighthouse, they're transported back in time. As the oldest standing lighthouse in North Carolina, Old Baldy has seen a lot, including the Civil War as it acted as an encampment site called Fort Holmes.
Those who climb the lighthouse's 108 steps to the top can see fantastic views of the waterways that surround Bald Head Island. Operating hours on Father's Day are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children ages three through 12.
