Sometimes finding just the right activity to treat mom to on Mother's Day can prove challenging. Fortunately, there are plenty of great sites to see in the greater Fayetteville area.

From walks with nature to indulging Mom in a cultural experience, the city has something for everyone. Here are our suggestions for some of the top things to do on Mother's Day in Fayetteville:

Cape Fear Botanical Garden

Cape Fear Botanical Garden has been open since 1989 and features 80 acres of beauty located just two miles from Downtown Fayetteville. The highlights of the property include the Camelia, Daylilly, and Shade gardens as well as the Heritage Garden, the Butterfly Stroll, and Children's Garden.

Garden visitors can enjoy a leisurely walk along the river trail or take a guided tour. They are open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mother's Day, and general admission is $10 plus tax.

Arnette Park

Another Mother's Day option for getting mom in touch with nature is Arnette Park. The park is one of Fayetteville's most expansive green spaces with over 100 acres of fun activities and beautiful scenery.

Hiking trails located throughout the park give active visitors a great excursion. There are also basketball courts, volleyball nets, and playgrounds to keep the kids occupied while Mom enjoys the great outdoors.

Cameo Art House Theatre

If Mom wants to curl up and enjoy the afternoon indoors, perhaps taking in a film at Cameo Art House Theater is what the doctor ordered. They show a variety of new releases, classics, and art house films.

Cameo recently restored their theatre by taking moviegoers back in time to what it originally looked like in the 1920s. They regularly offer matinee and evening showings, and general admission is $9.75.

Cape Fear River Boat Cruises

Cape Fear River Boat Cruises give passengers a unique view of the historic Cape Fear River. They originally launched in 1987 and offer a full slate of daily cruises and private charters.

On Mother's Day, Cape Fear River Boat Cruises offer sightseeing cruises at 11 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 1:30, 3 p.m, and 4:15 p.m. On these trips, they will talk about the history of the river and the Fayetteville/Wilmington area.

Mother's Day Brunch

Taking Mom to a Mother's Day brunch is a strategy that cannot fail, and there are several options in Fayetteville that offer excellent breakfast fare.

One of the top places in town for brunch is Circa 1800. The Downtown Fayetteville location serves brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and they offer a Bloody Mary bar in addition to the tremendous items on the menu.
