Interested in visiting the oldest zoo in South Eastern North Carolina? Make a visit to Tregembo Animal Park. The zoo is over 60 years old and has over 100 different species; you're in for a wild time here!
Adults are $12 per person, and children are $8 per person. The zoo is open everyday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tregembo also has a huge gift shop with zoo-themed merchandise and sweet treats.
Halyburton Memorial Park contains a 58-acre nature preserve, an accessible 1.3 mile walking and biking trail, picnic shelters and playground equipment, and an environmental education and events center.
There are plenty of events offered at Halyburton Park throughout the year ranging from bird hikes to animal camps for preschoolers, so be sure to check their calendar of events online before your trip. The park is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is also parking on-site and WiFi!
The La Dee Dah is a 27-foot yacht that sails out to catch the perfect sunset. The cruise is guided by Captain Axel, who will explain the surrounding ecosystem. This cruise also includes complementary beverages like white sangria and appetizers such as vegetables and hummus.
Cruises cost $80 per person with a maximum of six people per tour and can be scheduled online. For cruise dates, "as long as there's a sunset, there will be a cruise!"

Cape Fear Seafood Company is locally-owned and operated restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere serving a variety of regional American seafood as well as steak and chicken.
From the Figure 8 Stuffed Flounder to the Lobster and Shrimp Risotto, you'll leave stuffed and ready to rest it off on the beach. Cape Fear's signature cocktail list also is worth trying out from their Hibiscus Margarita to the Lavender Lemon Drop.
For a sailing adventure truly like no other, check out Shamrock Sailing Adventures. Climb aboard their 42-foot yacht for an intimate exploration of Masonboro Island from the water. Open everyday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., you can sail for two hours for $90 per person regardless of the time of day.
They also offer a $35 per person tour of just Masonboro Island. For those who may be interested in an developing leadership skills, Shamrock also offers a leadership academy for a two-day crash course on leadership styles and sailing for $495 per person.
Be sure to wear plenty of sunscreen as most of these activities are outdoors, and there's not much shade on Masonboro Island itself.
